Clients want America’s engineering industry to deliver projects that reduce their carbon footprint, and reduced carbon concrete is part of the solution. What’s more, federal funding is available to drive the transition to low carbon materials forward. ACEC is offering a special online class to enable members to learn more about the technology and the new funding available to put it to use, both for transportation and vertical construction projects, as well eligibility of other materials, such as asphalt.
Construction project specifications are changing because of client requirements for low-carbon materials. This trend provides an opportunity for firms to provide expertise and consultation to achieve sustainable, resilient, and long-lasting results.
The Inflation Reduction Act provides over $5 billion in grant funding to be used for three new Federal Highway Administration programs, including Low-Carbon Transportation Materials Grants. An anticipated $2 billion in funding is expected to be announced to support transportation programs.
